iON Ambulance Care are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals for their Patient Transport Service (PTS) crews, on a full time or 4 on 4 off contract in the Faygate area.
iON Ambulance Care is an equal opportunities employer. This position requires an acceptable standard of English and Numeracy, an ability to understand or assimilate medical terminology for both verbal communication and written reports.
Ambulance Care Assistants (ACA) will convey a range of people to and from outpatient clinics, renal dialysis, admissions and discharges following inpatient treatments. You often see the same patients on a regular basis and really get to know them. Some of your passengers will be anxious about their hospital visit and others may lead isolated lives. They will value your reassuring manner and the opportunity to chat during the journey.
ACAs are trained staff who form part of the iON team either working as part of a double crew or as a single person crew based at one of our station in Faygate. There is often a requirement to work shifts.
Frequently you will be part of a two-person team using a specially designed ambulance with access for wheelchairs, stretchers and conveying several people on each journey. As well as driving our Patient Transport service (PTS) vehicles, you will also be lifting and helping to move some of your patients in and out of the vehicle using the equipment provided. You will ensure that they are safe and comfortable during the journey and that they arrive on time for their appointment ahead of time.
Other duties will include making sure that your vehicle is clean and tidy and keeping an accurate record of your journeys using a wireless device or via paper copy.
Parking available on site. Full training and uniform is provided. Private Medical Insurance is offered after 12 months of service.
Interviews will be conducted online. Those that are successful will then be invited to a selection day at our training centre in Thame or Faygate.
Previous driving skills in ambulances, minibuses or larger type vehicles would be desirable. You must be over 19 years of age, have held a full manual UK driving license for 12 months with no more than 6 penalty points.
A conditional job offer may be made to candidates who are successful at the selection process, subject to a satisfactory DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance at Enhanced Level regarding vulnerable adults and children, receipt of satisfactory references, identity checks, right to work in UK checks, and an online check of your full UK driving license status.
