Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Animal Care Assistant working for a private reptile collection in South Buckinghamshire. This role will have you working with a wide range of reptiles, so previous experience working with a diverse taxa of reptiles is required.
This is a full-time position, working 50 hours a week over 5 days. Working days vary over a 7-day rota, including weekends and bank holidays.
Duties
· Food preparation and feeding of the collection, ensuring that all dietary needs are met
· Cleaning and general day today maintenance of the animal enclosures, which must be kept to a high standard
· Implementing an enrichment schedule
· Monitoring the health, safety and security of the collection and reporting any issues or concerns to the Supervisor
· Ensuring all animal records are kept up to date i.e. treatment and feeding records
· Assist with the inventory and sock taking, ensuring that the Supervisor is notified in advance of stock levels, to ensure a smooth running of the department
· Any other ad hoc duties that are deemed necessary by the animal centre manager
Requirements
· Flexible to meet the demands and needs of the department
· Have excellent attention to detail and a consistent high level of work as standard
· Being patient and have the ability to understand the needs of the animals you will be working with
· Being able to work independently as well as part of the team, with excellent communication skills
· Have excellent attendance and timekeeping skills
· Highly organised and have the ability to prioritise your workload
· Preferably a driver with your own car, with a clean UK driving licence
· Have passion and enthusiasm in the field you are working in
