St Philip's School is recruiting for a Temporary Cook to assist the Main Kitchen within our School Care Accommodation services.
You will be required to assist the Head Cook with food preparation and service. All food is prepared ‘from scratch’ on site and served to secondary age boys and girls within a School Care Accommodation Setting. General cleaning tasks are involved, and food safety is paramount.
Summary of Role and Key Tasks & Responsibilities ( this list is not exhaustive or definitive):
As Cook you will be expected to:
· Work with Head Cook to prepare fresh food for breakfast, break, lunch, dinner and events such as family’s evenings, Board’s meetings and formal events.
· Maintain a thorough and up to date knowledge and understanding of the menu and allergens. Training and guidance for this will come from your Service Support Manager as well as registered courses.
· Ensure that COSHH, Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations are adhered to, records are kept and any incidents or accidents are reported in line with procedures, to the Service Support Manager.
· Complete training as and when requested, in line with school policy and procedure.
· Complete any other tasks as required in the development of the catering service.
· Menu production, ordering and stock control
· Following Healthy Living Plus Award guidelines;
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
· Previous experience of cooking for high volumes, including baking would be desirable
· Basic Food Hygiene
· Numeracy skills.
· Effective verbal and written communication skills.
· Effective organisational and time management skills.
· Ability to work without close supervision.
· Ability to work flexibly as part of a team.
· Qualified to SCQF Level 6 or working towards
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £12.24 per hour
