Job Description

New Store Opening

37.5 Hours per week fully flexible to include Saturday and Sunday working

Main Purpose

To assist the Store Manager in the efficient day to day running of the store to achieve maximum sales and long term profit within the constraints of the Company’s policy framework and the effective running of the store in the absence of the Store Manager.

The Supervisor is expected to perform duties of a Sales Assistant plus the following:

Deputise for the Store Manager, which involves:

PEOPLE

Staff relations.

Training, deployment, development and keeping records.

Maintaining discipline - adherence to rules and regulations.

Welfare - personal problems, illness, accidents, safety, first aid, fire regulations.

Wages and entitlement.

Customer relations.

Handling complaints and refunds.Safety. Accident procedures.

Procedure for dealing with shoplifters.

SALES AND STOCK

N.B. MAIN JOB OF MAXIMISING SALES IS ACHIEVED THROUGH THE FOLLOWING:

Pricing and ticketing.

Advertising and display.

Promotion planning.

Developing in staff a friendly and helpful attitude.

Maintaining an attractive, clean selling environment.

Counters correctly stocked.

Security of stock.

Correct use of warehouse and stockrooms.

Stocktaking.

OPERATIONS

Maintenance of proper records of stock movements.

Checking goods in and out.

Proper handling and storage of stock.

Cleanliness of floors, windows, fixtures, etc.

Report any maintenance work required to Head Office.

Ensuring that scheduled and emergency maintenance is done.

Alarm Systems / Security of premises - store opening and closing procedures.

Fire drills.

Bomb warnings and searches.

Shoplifting and Other forms of shrinkage.

Security procedures / Office security.

Ensure premises comply with all safety regulations and that all operations are carried out to ensure complete safety of customers and staff.

To attend any emergency call-outs as required.

Correct use of all supplies.

Re-order system of supplies and maintenance of adequate stocks.

FINANCIAL

Use of tills including cashing up.

Transactions.

Security of cash in tills during collection and banking procedures.

Acceptance of all payment methods.

Wage returns and records.

Ensuring that all invoices are processed correctly. Dealing with quick payments.

Correct handling of transfers, debits, credits, dummy invoices, etc.

Handling mail.

Use and re-ordering of stationery.

Filing systems.

Use of telephone systems.

Knowledge of procedures in Procedures Manual.

Understanding of the effect of V.A.T on margins.

Marking down merchandise.

Financial.

Record keeping.

Accounting.
